As part of my art residency with Scottish Canals I spent a lot of time walking the towpath of the Union Canal focusing on the canal basin at Linlithgow.
There is a very active canal society there called LUCS who have a teashop and several boats to take people on short trips to the Avon Aqueduct and beyond.
The Avon Aqueduct is the longest, tallest aqueduct in Scotland and the second largest in Britain. it measures 247 meters long, 25.9 meters high and 7.2 meters wide quite scary to walk along the uneven towpath with water on one side and a steep drop on the other but it is spectacular.
